RnB Singer-Songwriter Aretha Lafayette Henry was born in Jackson Mississippi. She grew up in Camden, Mississippi along with her two sisters. Aretha grew up singing in school choirs , church choirs, as well as community choirs and groups. She spent a lot of time in church growing up. After graduating from high school, Aretha attended the University of Southern MS where she delved head first into the music scene participating in the local talent shows and singing hooks for local rappers. After deciding to take a break from her studies to focus on music, she began writing and releasing original material. Her debut album ‘Beautiful’ was released in 2010. Some fan favorites from her debut album were ‘I want you’ and ‘Stars’. Her sophomore album 'Enchanted’ was released in 2012. The single 'Captive’ did very well on the Indie R&B charts. The single 'Magic’ was also popular amongst fans. Her third studio album 'Superhuman’ was released in 2014. The single 'Masterpiece’ captured hearts and imaginations with its poetic and inspiring lyrics. She released her fourth studio album 'Mrs. Jones’ on May 16, 2019. Fan favorites from the album are singles Bless Your Judgemental Heart and Hollywood. In the summer of 2023, Aretha released the spicy R&B singles, Risk it All and Full Gusto. These singles were included on an EP titled Love Bug, released at the end of that summer. In the summer of 2024, Aretha released her first southern soul song titled Pink Boots which garnered quite a buzz. She won the award for "Super Star of the Year" at the 2024 Hood Idol Hip Hop Culture Awards.
